Kenny Goldstone went from tinkering with recording gear in his New Jersey bedroom as a teenager to playing Florida venues as an adult, but in 2025 was ready to see what happens when he stopped covering only other artists' songs.
Those formative years with gear and recording laid the foundation for what would become his modern day pursuit of music. Now armed with some guitar and keys chops, Kenny has developed tools to unleash his creative vision.
With Kenny and The Commotion, he's flipping the script and stepping into new creative territory, focusing on original songwriting and fresh musical ideas that blend his singer-songwriter sensibilities with R&B grooves and the occasional 80s rock detour—where folk meets funk and sometimes takes a left turn into prog territory. The debut album is set for release in early 2026, with possible singles arriving later this year.
As the ongoing frontman of The Grouper Cheeks and a founding/guest member of Karate in the Garage, Kenny is known for delivering semi-energetic cover performances that celebrate classic and contemporary hits. Both bands have become staples at local venues, renowned for their engaging live shows. After years of trying to do justice to other people's songs, Kenny was finally brave enough to share his own, offering audiences a chance to experience his unique compositions from his voice.
